I’m sure most of you saw on Instagram on Sunday that Philip and I announced we have a little Baby Blue on the way! Our sweet little one is due in October and we couldn’t be more excited! I wanted to thank yall so much for all the sweet comments, emails, texts etc over the past few days, we feel so loved!
Over the weekend, we got to shoot with sweet Ailee and she captured these pictures for our pregnancy announcement! We absolutely love them and I wanted to share them with yall today! I’ve also gotten a few questions already, so I thought I’d answer them below, as well as add in a little update on how the first trimester went!
Since we do not know if its a boy or a girl yet, I knew I wanted to keep it simple and gender neutral with an all white outfit. My gorgeous white eyelet dress is from Lilly Pulitzer and it is such a dream! The detailing is stunning and I’m such a sucker for those scalloped edges. Whether you’re a bride-to-be or just need a white dress for a spring/summer event, Lilly has a gorgeous selection of white dresses found here 🙂
My white Valentino pumps are of course from Luisaviaroma, my go-to destination for luxury shopping! They are absolutely stunning and will get so much use over the next few months. The shorter heel version can be found here and I’m loving this patent leather pair…so chic. Also be sure to check out their SALE section…they always have great pieces on sale and right now they are an additional 30% off at checkout.
I’m headed to the rewardStyle Conference in Dallas on Thursday and Luisaviaroma will be there as one of the brands…I’m looking forward to connecting with the team in person! Be sure to stay tuned via instagram and the blog to see how I style these white beauties while in Dallas!
Below is just a little about how the first trimester went for me and I tried to hit on a few topics I got asked about! 🙂 My goal is to continue little progress/update posts such as this throughout my pregnancy, if that is something yall are interested in seeing! Thanks SO much for following along 🙂
Backstory/how we found out: We had talked a lot about starting a family and we knew we were both so excited to one day have a little one. We weren’t sure exactly how long the process would take, but in December I stopped taking the pill. It turns out that after just a few weeks, I was pregnant! We were in NYC for Fashion Week and I had been feeling a bit sluggish and just kind of off. It was the morning of Valentines Day and we were headed to meet up with some friends for bottomless mimosa brunch [I was even wearing my Champagne sweatshirt – this photo was taken that morning…so I was READY haha], but I had a funny feeling. We decided to just run into Duane Reade to grab a test, just to see. I took the test and within seconds the little plus sign appeared! It was kind of exciting to find out in one of my favorite cities on Valentines Day 🙂 I know the struggles some sweet couple go through to become pregnant, so we feel so very lucky that it happened how it did for us.
How far along: 13 weeks on Thursday! Baby Blue will be as big as a peach!
Due date: October 14th. Excited for a little fall baby!
Sickness: My first trimester was…rough. To say the least. As excited as I was, I was pretty sick for the majority of it. Every morning [and all day really] I was so nauseous. The thought of food turned me off. And I was EXHAUSTED. I’ve always been the one who is ready for bed by 8:45 pm [most of my friends know not to text me after 8:30 pm or they know they won’t get a response until the morning!], but these past few weeks, I was ready for bed by 6 pm. I took naps and slept 12+ hours and still just didn’t feel rested. Luckily, in the past week, my appetite is a bit better, my morning sickness is WAY down, and my energy is back up! Feeling better each day!
Cravings: Let me just preface this by saying…I’m definitely not the “model mama-to-be” who eats all the fruits, veggies, and grains that I should. So no judgement here! I’ve been craving Hot Cheetos [nothing new though, my forever favorite snack], Trader Joe’s Cookie Butter ice cream every night, SUPER cold fruit, yogurt, Burger King chicken nuggets, and plain cheese thin crust pizza.
Aversions: Most meat to be honest! I always have loved steak and now the thought of it makes me sick. [My poor husband because it’s his favorite and we used to eat it all the time!]. Also, nuts, eggs, and most vegetables aren’t working for me right now. Grilled chicken seems to be okay once it’s in front of me, but the process of cooking it makes me really nauseous.
Weight gain: One pound so far! I had actually lost a couple of pounds until this past week. I was really having trouble eating, but that has gotten better so I’ve slowly started to gain.
Physical changes: My bump is only showing a little so far! I can’t button any of my pants anymore haha! My chest is much bigger and much more sensitive. I’ve also gotten little breakouts on my face and upper arms because of the hormone changes. And my hair is growing crazy fast.
Gender: We find out in 2-3 weeks! I kind of have this feeling it’s a boy but we would of course be over the moon with either!
Thank y’all for reading and for all the love and support! xoxo!
